- Turf repair
- TN discussed the poor condition of the turf surrounding the building. The board members agreed the issue and duty of improving the turf should be brought to The City. Emily will request for improvement to the turf at the next Spillville City Council Meeting.
- New aluminum flag pole.
- TN priced new aluminum flag poles that would require minimal maintenance. It was discussed at length that replacing the pole would include other expenses for labor and materials, but the item would then be in service for many years to come. The current spotlight should be recycled if possible and used on a new pole. Motion to purchase a new aluminum flag pole, materials, and labor for current flag pole replacement by TN, seconded SO, carried
- Library director performance measures/review guidelines
- Discussion by the board that having written job expectations and duties would be advantageous for annual library director evaluation. Emily will create a list of the duties she is currently performing and those she expects to perform. The board will provide input and all parties will work toward a job description and evaluation template that all agree upon.
- Teen movie nights in October on Thursdays 6-8
- Emily will speak with a young person from the area to consider staying open later on Thursdays for teenagers to “hang out”. Emily would like to start “teen nights” by October and incorporate scary movies.
- Gutter guards and Tree limbs on the roof
- TN described the limbs starting to brush on the roof and the possibility of fallen leaves clogging the eves. All board members agreed this topic needed action and felt it should be presented to The City first. Emily will request services to trim the tree branches and emplace gutter guards on the southeast side of the library building at the next Spillville City Council meeting.
