March 6, 2024 Minutes

The Spillville City Council held the regular meeting at the Spillville City Hall at 6:00 PM. on Tuesday, March 6, 2024.  Mayor Wermers called the meeting to order with the following councilmen present Backes, Kelsay, Taylor, Schmitt, and Straube.

Consent Agenda: Motion by Schmitt, second by Straube to approve items as follows:

1. Approval of minutes of previous meetings
2. Approval of Claims
3. Finance Reports

Roll call vote: Ayes, unanimous. Nays, none. Motion Carried.

EMC Insurance:  Jane Regan was here to review and present the city with the updated insurance policies and rates.  Motion by Straube, seconded by Taylor to approve the updated policies and rates. Roll call vote: Ayes, unanimous.  Nays, none. Motion carried.

Street Project:  No updates.

Water Project: Mark Ruden from Origin Design was here to further discuss the project plan.  There has been a good response from bidders.  Tree removal will need to be completed by the end of the month on the eastside of the street.  Motion was made by Schmitt, seconded by Backes to move forward with the removal of trees.  Roll call vote:  Ayes, unanimous. Nays, none. Motion carried.

Annexation: No update

Pitchcamp Policies & Requests: Policies were discussed and will be revisited again in the future.

Matt Frana – Turkey River Watershed Project Coordinator:  Matt presented and submitted a report for the update on the Iowa DNR Underserved Farmer and Farm Communities Grant.

Driftless Multimedia Tourism Book 2024 Ad: Add was discussed for publication.

Budget 2025: No update.

Bily Clocks Report: A report summary was submitted.

Library Report: A report summary was submitted.

City Maintenance Report: A report summary was submitted.
